A Baby Shower with a French Accent

Image
By Pauline Parry Ooo la la, she's having a bebe! In honor of my son, Ross, and daughter-in-law, Lauren, who will be having a baby boy this summer, several friends and I threw a Parisian bebe shower at the magical showroom of Rrivre Works. Where else in Los Angeles can one say "meet me under the Eiffel Tower?"  Guests entered the party through a wrought-iron gate and after getting a glass of champagne ... ...or blueberry lemonade, donned berets and joined their amis for the beginning of a lovely lunch.   The hostesses! A flower cart was a charming buffet filled with an assortment of French cheeses and gourmet popcorn and illuminated with vintage white lanterns . Blue martini glasses and blue and white floral arrangements by Gina Kim-Park from The Mille Fiori were the perfect French accent!    MENU from the flower cart   Truffle Oil Popcorn freshly popped popcorn drizzled w...

What Makes Rrivre Work? A Peek Inside His World

By Pauline Parry This is the third in a fun series I've been doing where I get up-close-and-personal with people in our industry. A Rrivre Runs Through It

How beautiful is this? Rrivre Davies of Rrivre Works in Los Angeles took part in the International Caterers Association Regional Education Day that Good Gracious put together at Jay's Catering in Garden Grove. And, as you can see, Rrivre does nothing by half! He went all out to create this luscious tent decor for the evening cocktail hour. I love it because it is summer and beachy without all the cliches that go with that type of theme. The seashell chandeliers were fabulous and the furniture (which he custom made for this event) was covered in a heavy woven fabric in a cream tone. And the ceiling! Instead of swagging, he created a contemporary, clever approach to a tent ceiling that transformed the environment. This effect, along with the white billowy fabrics on the side and the fact that he boxed the tent poles with white enameled architectural elements finished the tent and lent it a graceful elegance. Sitting in this tent felt as refreshing as if we were by the ocean. Accompan...
