A Conversation with John Homrighausen

Image
Well branded! While there is no doubt about what type of events J-BAR-H Texas Catering creates, where John Homrighausen is concerned, there are always surprises! By Pauline Parry In my ongoing series in which I ask industry professionals a few personal and professional questions, I turned my focus on Houston's John Homrighausen. John is smart, sharp and funny and Over the top. He is from Texas after all! I invite your to get to know him here, then really get to know him on Facebook (he doesn't Tweet because 140 characters is not enough characters for John) where he offers daily insights that are both motivational and hilarious, and where hes brilliantly branded his catering firm and his new Ranch Bakery with his own, big Texas personality! Both of these events particularly appealed to me, not only because I havent worked at this amazing venue before, or because I have never been to a Bar Mitzvah but because both events had a strong English element throughout. The wedding was a w

These trucks, stocked and ready to go during lunch and dinner hours offer some of the tastiest food around. Although they have been trending recently, food trucks have been around for years . Starting in the early 1900's as a means for workers to have meals quick and conveniently because the "restaurant" could roll right up the work site. In those early days the food "carts" provided cheap meals using simple ingredients. Over the years things have changed drastically. Currently, the trucks that roam Los Angeles offer some of the some of the best ingredients available and usually specialize in a particular dish. From cupcakes to sushi and everywhere in between, it is available. Over the past 4 years the food truck business has grown at a steady pace, carving out a niche business that for now is holding its own in the highly competitive market. Restua
